<<<   into smiles, praised the Lord and helped him stuff more Bibles into his bags. Out on the street, the weight of my three Bible-filled bags finally dawned on me. It took an effort to tilt the wheeled bags so that those two bags could be rolled. I couldn’t pick up either of those Bible-filled bags, but had expected that.

What I hadn’t expected was that the Bible-filled backpack’s right shoulder strap, which I was going to extend once outside, was in fact broken and had been tied into a hard knot. This meant I couldn’t carry the weight of the Bible-filled backpack on my hips via the hip straps. The only thing I could do was shorten the left shoulder strap so that the weight of the Bibles would at least be balanced, but this meant all of the Bibles in the three bags, which turned out to weigh 360-380 pounds, being concentrated on my shoulders instead of distributed. But it was too late to go back up and change bags, so off we went.

I began to wonder about that decision as my speed slowed to a crawl and my posture became more and more horizontal, to the point where sweat began to collect on my glasses' lens. But each step took us farther away from the warehouse and the option of going back to change the backpack.

Pulling both wheeled bags instead of pushing one of them also meant that I took up the entire sidewalk, slowing the pedestrian traffic. More than one passerby uttered sounds that seemed derogatory, and my two brothers in Christ were very gracious and patient with me while pulling heavy loads themselves.

As the knotted right shoulder strap dug into that shoulder (the left one kept loosening up), I thought, 'maybe this is sort of how the Lord’s shoulder felt as He carried the cross to Calvary', but quickly banished the thought. The Lord’s pain on that day couldn’t even begin to be compared with anything else, and certainly not with my pulling some bags. But I did think about your intercessory prayers and remained in prayer myself.

I told God that given the size of my load and speed, or lack thereof, the only way I could get these Bibles across the border was if He granted another miracle. In fact, I was going to keep my head down and just pull. Whatever He did at the border was up to Him. This was His war and His fight. I believed He will grant passage, but even if He  >>>
