<<<   I landed here Monday night and was met at the airport by one of the leaders of the Bible couriers organization. We got acquainted during the ride from the airport and he briefed me about the couriers organization, although much of it already had been done. As it was late, I showered after a quick meal and hit the sack at the couriers' quarters.

I had my first Bible run the next morning with 4 long-term Bible couriers. All four couriers and I made it through. The leader of the Bible couriers organization who picked me up did another run with me later that day. I had 180-190 Bibles and walked right past the guards, as he did. The joy of bagging up the Bibles at the safehouse on the other side is hard to describe.

The long-term Bible couriers here do little else but pray, courier Bibles and serve God in other ways. They don't eat much, seldom more than low-end local and fast food, and don't sleep much either. The Bible couriers organization' office is a small, cramped warehouse lined with Bibles and luggage, and the Bible couriers' living arrangements are bunk-bed spartan. The day starts with Bible runs and ends with prayers and/or Bible studies that start at 10pm and run until late. The one three nights ago ended at 5am.

Bible couriers' work into Hades is politically less dangerous, at least for Westerners, than I thought. When caught yesterday, I actually got to speak for about 15 minutes to 3-4 guards and 3-4 bystanders who gathered around the opened suitcase of Bibles and tell them why Hades needs Bibles. The guards were polite and attentive. When I was caught two nights ago, I had a short chat with a female guard who actually lowered her gaze while conceding that their "customs law" against Bibles contradicts Hades' own Constitution, which guarantees religious freedom, at least on paper.

But the same can't be said for the Bible couriers organization's contacts inside Hades. Two nights ago, I had the privilege of meeting and sharing a meal with the man who ships out to other parts of Hades the Bibles that the couriers bring across the border. Given the volume of Bibles he moves, if caught, he would face at least a very, very long prison sentence. Due to the risks involved, he can't even tell his family what he does or join a secret church. He obviously has the Lord with Him but his work is so dangerous that he needs to forego even Christian fellowship, except  >>>
