Bible Guard  [First Page - Previous]

<<<   Returning from Hades, I retrieved my confiscated Bibles, attempted another passage past the guards, and was caught by the same young female guard who had caught me on my way to
the retreat three days earlier. It was a bit of deja vu but there was no drama this time. The
guard simply asked for my passport as the bag exited the scanner, and took the Bibles.

I was troubled on the way back to base. Why hadn't the Lord granted passage of this load of
Bibles past the guards yet again? After all, I didn't even get a chance to witness to the guard
this time either. Was it me? Had intercessors pulled back on prayers for our Bible runs after
reading that we'd be on a retreat? Did it have something to do with the Bible smuggling
organization? Was it a combination of these and other factors...?

Back at the warehouse, I distributed the now-twice confiscated Bibles into three bags and filled
the extra spaces with clothes, ropes, frying pan, spatula and other random junk from the
warehouse kitchen that would show up on the scanner and hopefully confuse the guards, then
sat down for final prayers before heading back to attempt another passage past the guards.

Six of us prayed for the three making the Bible run. We prayed fervently for over an hour,
during which I became ashamed of the decoys in my bags. We had bound Satan in Jesus’
name, claimed Christ’s power over the guards and the border. Why was I trying to help Jesus
with decoys? Did God really need His Holy Word to be hidden under a frying pan?

When the prayers ended, I told the others about my shame, reopened my bags, removed the
junk, and filled the extra space with more Bibles, which enlarged my load. One of the other two
also reopened her bag and began to stuff more Bibles into it, while the third Bible smuggler
switched to a bigger bag and added an entirely new box of Bibles.

We felt ready as we headed to the border, and split up just before the Hades immigration.

I let the two go on first and watched the customs guards from afar for about 15 minutes. I had been advised by one of the Bible smuggling organization's leaders that he sometimes waited for up to 30 minutes to see who’s making it through and who’s getting caught by the guards, to gauge the traffic flow, etc. But the longer I waited, the more uneasy I became. So I passed immigration with the subsequent wave and began to walk toward the guards>>>
