<<<   The local leader decided that we would go in three waves. He would lead the first wave of four Bible smugglers. Bob would lead the second wave of three half an hour later, and two others and I would comprise the third wave half an hour thereafter.

After about half an hour, the leader called. Two of four in the first wave had been caught so he wanted the second wave to wait a bit longer. But the second wave already had left. I shut off my iPod’s praise and worship songs, shared the news with the two others in my wave and we immediately began to pray for the second wave.

Our prayer was interrupted by a second call from the leader. He still hadn’t seen anyone from the second wave, feared that all three had been caught, and advised us to wait longer before departing. I said that we will, hung up, and began to pray with the two others for our Bible run.

The leader called again. All three Bible smugglers had been caught as he had feared, so he wanted us to take smaller loads and go through another border crossing.

That put me and the two others in my wave in a dilemma. We had just prayed and reaffirmed our faith in Christ. While the enemy defenses had tightened, we trusted God can overcome those defenses. We cared not how strong the enemy defenses were. No matter how high the waves got or how fast the winds blew, we would keep our eyes locked on Christ because He can make us walk on water. To now pack a smaller load and go through another border crossing seemed like disavowal of our prayers. I told the leader we were in prayer and would include his concerns, and ended the call.

I told the other two about the conversation, shared why I had packed such a monster load of Bibles for myself, and we stood together holding hands for another round of prayers. It was an intense but sweet time of seeking the Lord.

After we said “Amen”, one of the new Bible smugglers (center in the previous photo) said softly, “I want to change my load… I feel that I have not packed enough Bibles.” The other guy and I broke  >>>
